Frequently Asked Questions
Questions and Answers
Do you want to wakeboard or wakesurf with us as a guest or member? Want to meet new people and just have fun on the lake? What do you need to do to join us on the boat? Can you rent the boat exclusively? We're happy to answer all your questions right here!
A session is the total time you spend with us on the lake, either as a rider or a spectator.
The duration of the session depends on the number of sign-ups and the endurance of each rider. You stay on the water until everyone who wants to ride has had their turn, but the maximum time is 2.5 hours. The goal is clear: everyone should get a chance to ride. This means that with fewer sign-ups, you might even get to ride twice. If the session is fully booked, it means everyone will be considerate of each other.
We have current equipment from Liquidforce, Ronix, and Lib Tech. The equipment includes: wakesurf board, wakeboard, handle, vest, and neoprene (shorty). We do not provide helmets or full-length wetsuits. Of course, you're welcome to bring your own gear. Please remember that according to our terms and conditions, wearing a vest is mandatory.
- You can sign up for a session with us online. Available times and dates will be shown to you.
- You will receive a confirmation email that we have received your request. You can assume that your booked session will take place. We will contact you if there are too few sign-ups or bad weather conditions.
- Triff bitte pünktlich vor deiner gebuchten Session beim Steg im Hafen ein. Denk daran, dass am Wochenende die öffentlichen Parkplätze bei schönem Wetter stark ausgelastet sind.
You can find all the details about our location and how to get here on our website. Please use the public parking or public transport. On Sundays, it’s not always easy to find a parking spot, so make sure to allow enough time.
- The boat driver, called Driver or Coach by us, will welcome you.
- If you need equipment, they will choose a suitable board and vest for you.
- They will sign you in on a session sheet, which helps us with billing.
- If it's your first time wakeboarding or wakesurfing, the driver will of course give you some tips on-site.
- Everyone will go to the boat together.
Basically, it’s like this: first all the wakeboarders, then all the wakesurfers. For wakeboarders, wind is more of an issue than for wakesurfers. While others are riding, you can watch, enjoy the sun, and maybe help the driver out.
- Shoes should be taken off before getting on the boat.
- All equipment will be stored on the boat.
- The driver will slowly drive out of the dock area through the shoreline.
- 300m away from the shore, the driver stops the boat and the first rider gets ready.
- You go into the water and someone hands you the handle to hold on to. Thanks to your vest, you naturally have enough buoyancy to stay above water.
- The driver positions the boat, you have tension on the rope from the boat's idle throttle.
- Now you give the driver a signal that you are ready, and he takes off, the stopwatch is started.
- If you fall into the water, the driver will bring you the handle with the boat. You might get a few tips from the people on the boat, and then you'll start again. The stopwatch continues to run during a fall.
- As soon as you've had enough and want to go back to the boat, you drop into the water and signal the driver. He stops the clock.
- You detach the board from your feet in the water as the driver slowly approaches you.
- You get in and the next rider is up. Since the driver keeps an eye on safety on board and the weather conditions, they can end a session early at their discretion.
- The driver slowly drives through the shore zone back to the boat dock
- He might need your help with docking to secure the boat.
- The driver handles the billing and collects payment.
- The session is over, and you are welcome to go out for a drink together.
Our drivers are members of the club who hold a Category A boat license. They have been trained on the boat and work voluntarily with the intention of having a good time on the lake. Would you like to become a driver with us? Then apply through our contact form.
We generally refer to the individuals who practice water sports behind the boat with us as riders (wakeboarding, wakesurfing, wakeskating, water skiing).
As a member, we refer to members of the doubleUP association. A member pays a membership fee to actively support the association. In return, the member benefits from certain advantages, which are listed under the prices here on the homepage.
When wakeboarding, you use a snowboard-like board with bindings on your feet, positioned about 12 meters behind the boat, and you ride at about 30 km/h. The wakeskate and the wakesurf board do not have bindings. The wakeskate resembles a skateboard, while the wakesurf board resembles a surfboard, hence the names. The wakeskate and wakesurf board have a special surface to provide better grip when riding barefoot. In all three board variations, you are pulled out of the water by the boat. For this, you need a so-called handle, a rope with a grip that you can hold onto.
When wakesurfing, you have a surfboard without bindings, are only about 2-4 meters behind the boat, and ride at about 18 km/h. Especially in wakesurfing, the water tanks on the boat are filled with water. The so-called ballast ensures that the wake at the back becomes larger, creating a nice wave for surfing. Wakesurfing is purely a balance task for beginners. Once you figure out how shifting your weight affects whether you ride closer to the boat or further away from it, you can maintain your position in a controlled manner. At this point, it becomes possible for advanced riders to let go of the handle and move freely in the wave away from the boat.
Unfortunately, we do not have rental equipment for water skiing. However, if you own your own water skis and are not a beginner, you are welcome to bring them. Please inform the driver of the desired speed and rope length. You are responsible for your equipment.
No matter how good your riding skills are in wakeboarding or wakesurfing, you are welcome with us. From beginners to pros, everyone is in the same boat. The driver is happy to help you with your first attempts. Sometimes you get lucky and experienced riders are on board to offer you tips and tricks.
We recommend beginners start with wakesurfing, as you can be coached more directly and the speed is lower.
The youngest driver with us was 8 years old. The oldest was almost 70. The average is among those aged 25-35. Everyone is welcome here. However, here are two important prerequisites:
- If you are still a minor, you need the written consent of your legal guardians. (Minimum age is 8 years)
- You must be in good health. It is best to inform yourself about health, age, and risks in our terms and conditions.
Each rider confirms by booking a session that they have read the terms and conditions. The organization is not liable for accidents, so it is advisable to inform oneself with their insurance about personal liability and legal protection.
